Welcome to Skyre, 2022!
-
Welcome all, to the annual Festival of the Sky!
Skyre is long-standing tradition celebrated in Feisha to wish well for the coming year, as well as thanking the mythical Sky Weaver for watching over the weather all year-'round. Skyre is usually a week-long tradition and brings in many beings from far lands to celebrate life together! This year we come together to celebrate the Weaver for both the land and sky by holding the festival on the coast below Feisha. -
Activities
There are many events celebrated during the week festival. All in which everyone can participate in and enjoy themselves!
Some can last the whole day, while others only last a few hours. Below are some popular activities.
The Weaver's page can be read here.
Decorating:
It always takes place on the first day. Everyone helps out and decorates the beach in pink petals, flowers, and lanterns! Many also love to leave gold coins around for good luck! You will often smell sweet incense in the air wherever you go. Statues of the Weaver are decorated in rare flowers and beings take turns placing gold leaves, gems, and coins onto its surface.
Kite Making and Flying:
Many beings love to construct kites together and test their abilities! Kites usually depict sky-dwelling creatures like birds, the mythical being herself, and insects, but nothing limits your creativity! Kites are usually very colourful, and the bigger the better we say!
Worship:
While others may love to run around and enjoy the music and colour, some peaceful souls may spend their time around the statues. They prefer silence and inner peace when praying or relaxing near the statues. Many will also offer small gifts to their statues.
Costumes:
Another fun activity to indulge in is making your very own festive costume! These costumes are very important and must be worn with pride and respect. Beings adorn themselves in bells, gold and red silk, red paint and sometimes artificial wings (Usually the more the better). You can view traditional clothing here.
Lantern Casting:
Usually taking place on the last day, before the sun is about to set, thousands send their lanterns into the sky. It is tradition to bid the Weaver well on her journeys before making your own wish. Wishes should be positive and kind-hearted or they will bring bad luck back to you. If your lantern does not rise, it is said that the Weaver will not hear your voice that year.
