Vampirism

Children of the Midnight Song

  • General Lore

Vampirism is a rare illness noted in 0.3% of the Elyxium population. It may be hard to classify this illness due to afflictions that may mimick the side effects, however, there is one distinct feature that vampirism presents. Any Elyxium that is a victim of this illness will bear two thin fangs and the unique ability to derive power and life from drinking the blood of others. Each time a vampire drinks, they both absorb the blood and life from their victims. The vampire will grow in power the more that they drink, however, it is possible for a vampire to live without feeding, but they will slowly grow weaker. Vampires have a weakness to sunlight, and weaker vampires can disinegrate if touched by its divine rays. They also possess quick healing abilities. Vampires can not be permanently killed unless they are struck by a weapon of a Cyphon, stabbed directly in the heart, or fully exposed to sunlight. Some species do not possess hearts, so the former method is most reliant. Vampires can only be created by drinking or being cursed by a Vampire's blood. This means internally digesting the blood, or blood infecting an open wound. There are very rare cases where vampire blood can infect Cyphons. This mostly appears in cursed cyphons, but it can also infect blessed's that have a faltering faith.

    BloodSire

A Bloodsire or a Bloodmare is an ancient root of Vampire. These are considered the oldest of the Vampires, and the ones that create later generations. Bloodsires often have stronger versions of the same abilities and are much harder to kill. For lore purposes, any character with this illness could be given this title.

    • Hunters

Due to vampires often feeding on the lifeforce of the living, many Elyxians have taken it upon themselves to protect the vulnerable against these demons. Vampires are often hunted down indiscriminately to avoid the illness spreading, and it is often deemed reasonable to kill any Elyxian that shows signs of vampirism. Cyphons have even been known to purge vampires as they seek to return the cursed soul back to Alure where it rightfully should belong as immortality is deemed as "cheating death".

Traits from the base form can be applied to this form, and any colours can be used (Does not need to be the same palette).
The nose prongs determine the strength and/or age of the vampire. The longer the prongs the more experienced the vampire generally is.
